Ristikheina Kohvik Food Review

Ristikheina Kohvik has many outlets around Tallinn, but I feel that this outlet at Pelgulinn is the cosiest of all. It feels like a quaint cafe in the middle of nowhere. However, it is not very close to Tallinn Old Town so you might have to spend some time walking here. Alternatively, you can take Bolt which is a car-hiring app like Uber.

Ristikheina Cafe Food Comparison
English breakfast and warm buckwheat duck salad.

We ordered the warm buckwheat duck salad and the English breakfast. From the picture, you can see that the English breakfast is much bigger than the Buckwheat salad.

Below attached is also the Menu that they have. Apart from this, there are pastries that are not on the menu. There is also free lemon water that you can get on a self-service basis.

English Breakfast

English Breakfast Estonia
Huge Portion for one pax.

I find that the English Breakfast is very value for money. It might cost 10.90€, but the quality is there. It comes with, bacon, sausage, black pudding, fried egg, potatoes, grilled tomato, mushrooms, butter bean in tomato sauce and onion bread.

What I find very interesting is their black pudding, sausage and potatoes. When I first ate the black pudding, I didn’t know what it was, I thought it was some kind of bread. After researching, it was actually a kind of blood sausage. I practically ate it without knowing what it was. But it was nice. The texture is like a cakey texture which was why I thought it was bread.

The sausage was delicious, it has a special taste to it which I really liked. The potato was different, it wasn’t the baked potato that English Breakfast might come with. It was somehow fried like chips. I couldn’t stop at one.

Apart from these, they even provided two eggs. The whole English Breakfast meal was very filling!

Warm Buckwheat BBQ Duck Salad

Warm Buckwheat Duck Salad
A very healthy and nutritious choice.

This Buckwheat Salad gave me an eye-opening experience of buckwheat as a staple food. It is also the first time I had buckwheat salad and it gave me a really good impression of it. The whole dish was made with effort and tastes really delicious.

The dish is also very different when talking about the general perception of salad, this dish is warm, and the whole dish is not jammed packed with raw vegetables.

What they do is mix the cooked buckwheat with shredded duck and then mix it with some raw vegetables, leek, and tomatoes and add on an egg. The combination is great. This dish portion is also quite big and you will definitely feel full.

The cost is 8.90€, in my opinion, it is worth it.

Sea buckthorn-mango smoothie

We also tried the smoothie as the name was really special. The ingredients were also quite healthy consisting of buckthorn, mango, ginger, and orange. The price was quite steep at 5.50€. However, it was freshly made so it can somehow justify the pricing.

The taste was slightly sour probably due to the buckthorn, but we like that it was healthy.
