Where to eat in Ho Chi Minh City with Family

Vietnamese food is just more delicious in Vietnam. You will be spoilt for choices on what to eat when you come to this city as there is a wide range of food to eat. They range from street food stalls to proper restaurants. Here are some of our favourites to try when in Ho Chi Minh City.

Bánh Mì Hồng Hoa – French loaf sandwich with pork, ham, and egg. Great for breakfast or tea break.

Bún Thịt Nướng Chị Tuyền – Spring roll and grilled pork in vermicelli. Pour over the special sauce to the whole dish. Best for lunch when pork is freshly grilled.

PHÁT KÝ NOODLES – Noodles soup with different parts of the pork and seafood. The main attraction of this place is their broth, which is naturally sweet and tasty. Great for those who like noodles and soup.

Pizza 4P’s Ben Thanh – Try their delicious handmade pizza in a very comfortable atmosphere. It is very crowded and you need to go down the reserve in advance.

Phở Phú Vương – Pho is the most famous dish for tourists and it is a must-try. It contains a delicious broth over beef or pork and rice noodles.

Bánh Canh Cua 87 – This is a unique dish that is crab meat based, the broth is starchy and each dish comes with prawns, crab meat, pork, egg, pig blood and noodles. You can also add on the fried dough to soak in the broth. The whole combination is great.

Other than these stalls, when you’re walking around, you will be able to see street food stalls. You can also try them out, we have gone to random stalls along the streets and the quality ends up really good too.

Top tips for travelling to Ho Chi Minh with Family

  1. Take private transport by using Grab or Gojek – The cost is not a lot, so there is no need to take public transport. The weather is also very hot, if you are to walk around you will definitely sweat a lot and feel uncomfortable. You also save more time and will be able to visit more attractions.
  2. Plan your activities in advance – When travelling in a bigger group it is best to book accommodations and tours in advance.
  3. Learn to cross the busy road – The traffic is filled with motorcycles and crossing the road is quite a difficult task for many. The trick to crossing the road is by not rushing to cross the road, move forward when you see an opening and repeat. There won’t be any issue if you wait in the middle of the lanes. So don’t rush when crossing. If you’re travelling with kids, hold them tightly or find traffic lights to cross.
  4. Bring cash with you – Vietnam is not a cashless country, most stalls will still collect cash instead of payment by card. There are many ATMs around which you can also draw out cash if you do not have enough. We recommend using the wise card as a travel card for any ATM withdrawals at the best exchange rates.
